VoiceXML 2.0/2.1 use the Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) to control TTS pronunciation, rate, pitch, and other characteristics. You can include speech markup tags within <audio>, <choice>, <foreach> (within <prompt>), and <prompt> elements.
Note: Some TTS engines do not support the use of any speech markup tags. Other engines support some or all of the speech markup tags. See your vendor documentation for support details.
