Summary of Release 5.8

Main Changes

• The way field variables, field$.interpretation variables, and the application.lastresult$.interpretation variable are filled with recognition results has been changed to comply with the W3C specification. The new behaviour is documented in the Field Variable Assignment tutorial.
  
  
• Various ECMAScript types (strings, numbers, pointers, objects, etc.) can now be passed to and from <subdialog>, using <param> and <return>. Note that arrays are still not supported. Previous versions only supported passing the string type to and from <subdialog>.
  
  
• SpeechWorks XML grammars, Nuance XML grammars, BBN XML grammars, and XML DTMF grammars can now be written inline without being enclosed in a <![CDATA[...]]> block. See examples:
